1.Tell us about yourself
HI, My Name is Naveen Arya, I’m a Lawyer based out of Rohtak and practicing in Supreme Court of India as well as Rohtak District Court. I have a vivid and wide-ranging experience in practice of law, with specialization in Information Technology Law, Criminal Law and Civil Litigation. I’m former National President of Indian lawyers Association(ILA).
https://www.truelawyer.in aims to bring together innovation for finding novel solutions to legal problems and facilitate infrastructural changes in the legal industry.

2.How did the idea for your business come about?
India as we know it today is far ahead in every possible term – be it Education, Innovation, Technological advancement or Economy. India is a fast-paced Growth Economy. The citizens today are what we call in urban lingo as “woke”! Woke citizens demand transparency and quick solutions which are efficient and all-inclusive. The idea behind True Lawyer was born to bring together all the lawyers and advocates across India under one umbrella and facilitate ease of access between citizens and lawyers, be it in any part of the country. Lawyers are the very starting point of the justice delivery system. If a lawyer for a common man’s woes can be found online without any exploitative middle-man, then the justice delivery system and citizens can be hugely benefitted at large.

3.Can you tell us about your venture?
https://www.truelawyer.in is an endeavour by a lawyer for fellow lawyers and litigants. The world has made great strides with the advent of technology, and the Indian Legal scene is fast catching up. From e-filing to e-hearings, we have moved a long way from our traditional court-rooms. Envisioning the same growth through technology for our fellow lawyers and legal practitioners, TrueLawyer aims to bridge the enormous gap between “We, the people of India” and we, the lawyers of India.TrueLawyer connects citizens in every corner of the country to lawyers across the length and breadth of the country. This makes Justice system more efficient and the whole process of litigation quicker. The True Lawyer Platform combines technological tools with legal expertise to deliver optimum legal services to any citizen or foreigner looking for it. Indian Lawyers are highly enterprising and sharp professionals, and their demand in the foreign market is on a steady rise. TrueLawyer has opened the magic box to the rest of the country and the world market. Expert Solutions are just a click away with TrueLawyer.

4.What are the challenges you faced till date and presently facing?
The first and foremost challenge in establishing any new idea always involves overcoming the challenges and threats posed by redundant thinking. Legal Profession was traditionally based on face-to-face interaction and client counselling is a major component even today. The human reluctance is genuine but misplaced. Convincing our own fraternity of lawyers and advocates and then people to believe in the idea is a major challenge. After this, finding the easiest and most suitable way to optimize our vision into a workable code is another! We learn new things everyday and continuously incorporating our learnings into the system is both a challenge and exhilaration! The legal Industry is still apprehensive of tech-solutions but this is slowly changing now, especially in wake of Covid-19 pandemic which necessitated virtual hearings in court.

5.What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
I’m a Geek at heart and I have always naturally endeavored to optimize my surroundings and make them more efficient through use of technology. My educational training in Computer Science and Law coupled with many years of experience in Legal profession motivated me to go ahead with the project. I simply began writing the code and the continuous thrill of birthing something innovative and unique kept moving me forward!

6.How did you raise funding for your venture?
We are in middle of fund-raising process, we have already built our business plan, done swot analysis for next 5 years and are in talks with some V.C to come in and be a part of journey.

7.How do you build a successful customer base?
The sole focus of our Team has been to deliver an efficient and workable product that facilitates ease of access and streamlined solutions to both Lawyers/Advocates and anyone looking for legal solutions. The complexity of legal solutions and expertise is panned out on a wide-spectrum. The target customer-base depends on various factors. Our aim was to recognize these factors and increase ease of access based on industry insights. This itself kick-started building of a customer-base in the right direction.

8.What kind of culture exists in your organization, and how did you establish it?
Currently, we are a small Team of innovators and field-experts. All of us are deeply driven by the objective behind this project and understand the challenges of tech-entrepreneurship. From introspecting together to locking horns, we have done it all. All our processes are inclusive and we welcome all voices. Again, just being able to work on something so innovative and holding great potential is what establishes our working culture.

9.How do you generate new ideas?
Idea generation is a team effort. We are not afraid to explore and traverse forbidden territories. At TrueLawyer, we question everything and strive to achieve a balance between tradition and innovation. This helps us massively increase our learning curve and come-up with solutions aimed at solving everyday problems in Legal Industry.

11.How do you define success?
Success for me is simply little progress made everyday in the right direction.

12.Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?
I think first and foremost, an Entrepreneur should not be afraid to ask questions that tend to shake the already known patterns of doing things. Secondly, I strongly feel that Indian Market holds great potential and therefore, one should never doubt if their idea will work or not. Thirdly, I believe that nothing is more beautiful and sellable than simple and elegant solutions. Even at TrueLawyer, we strive to transform complex problems into simple and accessible solutions.

13.What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
That is definitely the thrill of seeing the transformation of a mere idea into a practical, implementable, and efficient reality. The possibility of bringing something new in the world also keeps me titillated!

14.What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
The most satisfying moment was to see hundreds and hundreds of Advocates across India sign-up on our platform and believe in us.

15.What entrepreneurial tricks have you discovered to keep you focused and productive in your day-to-day busy schedule?
The only trick up my sleeve is to look forward to today and have faith in tomorrow. I live for the day and every inch of failure is part of my learning curve. As a matter of fact, I have been working to optimize TrueLawyer into a workable solution for many years now and I have learnt a lot along the way.

16.Who has been your greatest inspiration?
My Greatest Inspiration from my life comes from many different leaders and freedom fighters of our country, But Since I am more of a tech guy and I am very much influenced by Sunder Pichai , who I admire and believe that he is the real face and role model of India and a great example that what Indians are capable of doing.

17.Any message for future entrepreneur?
My only message to future entrepreneurs, especially in Legal Industry is to think big and start small. Lawyers and legal professionals are an essential part of our justice-delivery system. So starting from basics is always a prudent idea. There is scope and opportunity for every idea out there. If you can see it, you can achieve it!
